DO or Diesel is an extremely important factor for the production process in the world, here we would like to explain the questions to learn about it.

What Is Diesel Or DO?
Diesel oil or DO is a liquid raw material, the result of the fractional distillation of petroleum. This type of DO oil will be heavier than kerosene and gasoline and has an evaporation temperature of about 175 to about 370 degrees Celsius. DO is likened to an extremely important fuel in life.

Basic Characteristics of Diesel Oil (DO)
DO has an evaporation temperature of 175 to 370 degrees Celsius, some heavy materials have an evaporation temperature of up to 315 to 425 degrees Celsius
DO density: 0.79×10-3 – 0.87×10-3
DO does not cause wear to equipment
DO is heavier than kerosene and gasoline
DO has a characteristic light yellow color quite similar to the color of A95 gasoline
DO Flammable
Some Types of Diesel Oil
In Vietnam, there are 2 main types of circulating DO oil, DO 0.05%, DO 0.001S, which are distinguished by their sulfur content with different applications.

DO 0.05% contains a maximum of 500 mg/kg of sulfur commonly used for road vehicles
DO 0.001S contains up to 10 ppm
In addition, there was previously a 0.25% sulfur DO with a maximum S value of 0.25%, but it has been discontinued since 2016.

Some Information related to Diesel (DO) oil
Diesel used for what types of vehicles?
Commonly used for internal combustion engines with the name Diesel engines in all types: road, waterway, railway. This type of engine was invented by a German engineer in 1982 with 4 strokes in an operating cycle (intake, compression, explosion and exhaust).

Combustion of the fuel occurs in the combustion chamber as the piston approaches dead center within the compression stroke. It is also simply understood as spontaneous combustion under the influence of high temperature and pressure of compressed air. In addition, it is also commonly used in vehicles with large loads such as forklifts, semi-automatic forklifts or gas turbines, etc.

Is diesel harmful to the environment?
DO releases into the environment only a small amount of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbonsand, carbon dioxide. These are wastes that lead to the greenhouse effect, which is the cause of global warming.
Therefore, DO is not harmful to the environment, but diesel contains a large amount of nitrogen compounds and particulate matter. Burning this fuel can lead to acid rain, smoke, bad odors and health effects.

Is kerosene a diesel?
Diesel and kerosene are both petroleum fuels extracted after fractional distillation from the plant. They are part of the molecular composition of crude oil characterized by simple and complex hydrocarbon chains. The distillation process separates these components based on different boiling points.
Kerosene has less hydrocarbons and a lower boiling point than diesel, so it is extracted first. Diesel is extracted immediately after kerosene. Each of these fuels can be mixed with additives to improve its quality prior to use.
